Measures which contributed to the improvement on their previous Silver include:

- Collecting unwanted apples from friends and neighbours in the immediate area to produce a unique breakfast juice that gives a true flavour of the Tamar Valley. Enough juice was produced for a full year’s supply.

- Featuring a high proportion of quality, locally produced foods and drinks on their breakfast and evening menus.

- Collecting over £200 per year in donations for Tamar Grow Local, an organisation that promotes awareness of the production of food throughout the area, and organises the purchase of land for allotments.

In addition, they have also been awarded one of Visit Britain’s new Breakfast Awards, in recognition of “quality and choice of breakfast, service and hospitality that exceeds what would be expected”.

We have never been involved in the tourist industry before, but we love meeting all the different people who come to stay at the station and it’s very gratifying that even though we have only been open 18 months guests are returning for a second visit.
